The 100 year old building has been painstakingly and lovingly restored as a place to delight locals and visitors alike. Now known as Carrington Cellars, it carries a range of fine wine, beers and delicatessen probably unmatched anywhere in regional NSW. The range includes 150 wines from the central west of NSW alone. There's also a fine selection of quality liqueurs and mixer ingredients with expert cocktail making advice on hand. The deli stocks a big range of items, much of it good quality Italian produce such as salted anchovies, Bresaola, tinned cherry tomatoes, Ligurian olives and Beluga lentils. There's a range of fresh pasta sauces which are made in Australia and a selection of interesting Australian cheeses. Carrington Cellars includes an educational precinct where visiting winemakers or The Carrington's sommelier, Andrew Russell, will host tutored wine tastings. While browsing the shelves, there is much to discover in the quality restoration of this building, such as the brickwork, inlaid logos in the flooring, the original weighbridge in the air-lock entrance and the old power station water tank. Carrington Cellars is in Parke Street, Katoomba and is open 10.00am to 8.00pm Monday to Wednesday, 10.00am to 9.00pm Thursday to Saturday and 10.00am to 6.00pm Sunday.
