'Goomblar's Dreaming' is an on-stage history of the Yidaki (Didjeridoo) and is performed three times a day (11.50am, 1.00pm and 1.30pm). The troupe combines visual effects, music and dance to tell Aboriginal stories that have been passed down from generation to generation over 40,000 years. The man whose name the show bears, Goomblar, moved to the Blue Mountains from south-east Queensland 11 years ago. And Goomblar isn't just a performer. He's currently engaged in setting up a not-for-profit co-operative in the mountains. The idea is to train other Aboriginal performers and entrepreneurs from all over Australia so that they can start similar tourist ventures. "I want to raise the skills and profile of Aboriginal tourism and also to enhance the visitor experience Australia-wide," he says. 'Goomblar's Dreaming' has been seen by people from all over the world since it started last year at The Edge. spring 2009 www.bluemountainstouristnewspaper.com.au 21 October 3-11, 2009 Blossom Time in the Mountains 10 Gardens for your enjoyment for $18.00 including Everglades Phone 0431 095 279 • www.leuragardensfestival.com.au
